Sustainable plastic paint pail chosen for new range

An environmentally friendly paint container manufactured in the UK has been chosen by one of Ireland’s leading paint manufactures for its latest range of acrylic paints.

The ‘Supertainer’ from RPC Containers in Oakham, is the latest innovation in plastic paint can design said to deliver a lower carbon footprint and enhanced decoration possibilities, while maintaining the same dimensions for logistics and on-shelf storage.

Castle Paints, based in Co. Offaly in Ireland, is using Supertainer for its 2.5 and 5 litre paint variants, as well as RPC Oakham’s standard 1 litre paint can and 5 litre ‘S’ range can.

Visibly no different to previous designs, RPC states the key change in its Supertainer has been to take material out of the container body to match the latest advances in polymer strength and meet sustainability targets.

The Supertainer was piloted for 18 months to ensure confidence in its performance, and RPC Oakham states it has invested considerably in production lines for the product.

This includes new equipment developed specifically to handle high-quality in-mould labelling (IML) such as that required by Castle Paints, which RPC Oakham states enables it to match functionality with eye-catching aesthetics.

Ronan Spollen of Castle Paints commented: “We are fully committed to ensuring our products are designed to cater for the requirements of Irish businesses and the Irish consumer – and that includes the high-quality RPC containers we use.”
