The checklist is designed to make it easier for companies to get an accurate quote for injection-moulded parts. The difficulty UK businesses face in getting a genuinely accurate quote for the manufacture of any new plastic product have led a Wiltshire-based tooling and injection moulding company to produce a simple checklist that’s designed to extract an accurate quote from any supplier.
Toolcraft Ltd of Swindon says it has used its own experience of receiving customers’ quote requests to give guidance in the four main areas where ambiguity or lack of knowledge can lead to unnecessary complication and a disparity between quotes and real world costs.
Toolcraft’s checklist is designed to dramatically improve the likelihood of receiving an accurate quote by encouraging companies to be specific and accurate about the size of the product to be made, the quantity needed, the type of plastic material required and the actual design of the required plastic product.
“We know that when it comes to getting a plastic injection moulding job done the small details are important and even small changes may have a huge impact on the projected costs. This can be very frustrating if you just want to get an accurate quote and get a plastic product made as quickly and economically as possible. That’s why we’ve developed this checklist,” commented Toolcraft’s Managing Director, Russell Hemsworth.
The four-part checklist from Toolcraft Ltd also highlights the longer-term savings to be made by having a multi-impression mould tool made and buying the plastic in larger batches. The checklist also helps the user to appreciate the important difference between the design of a plastic product and the design of an injection mould tool.
