Kamco has launched a new Scalebreaker C210 tank-mounted descaling pump for the chemical cleaning of calorifiers, boilers, plate heat exchanges and cooling circuits.
The C210 has been designed to increase health and safety by keeping descaling chemicals enclosed at all times within the tank, thus minimising fumes, splashes and consequent risk to operators.
The Scalebreaker C210 has a 125-litre tank with an integral vertically mounted, acid-resistant pump, as well as flow and return hoses and a flow reversal device for faster descaling. The flow and return hoses have one inch BSP threaded couplings for easy connection to the plant being cleaned.
The flow rate of the C210 is up to 170 litres per minute and the high circulation rate, coupled with a 24 metre head, gives faster and more effective descaling, says Kamco.
Regular use of the flow reverser is said to ensure vigorous and turbulent movement of descaling solutions to sweep away reaction by-products and enable fresh solution to reach heat transfer surfaces.
It is ideal for cleaning calorifiers to remove scale and debris, which otherwise reduce efficiency and screen legionella and other bacteria from the effect of biocide treatments. Other applications include acid washing package boilers and descaling large plate and tube heat exchangers without the need for dismantling.
The C210 will also handle biocides and chlorine solutions, and so can be used for sterilisation of pipework and water supply systems.
Without hoses, the C210 only weighs 29kg, although it is capable of handling large descaling jobs, and the integral wheels and handle mean that it can be easily transported by one person safely.
