The new machine installation at EBC Brakes, Pineham
A Northampton-based manufacturer of brake pads has recently taken delivery of its second skin and blistering machine, increasing its output and dispatch times.
EBC Brakes purchased its second ILLIG SB 74e-10 to operate alongside its existing model, installed in 2013. The addition of the new machine takes the company’s output at its Pineham plant to around 24,000 sets of brake pads per day.
The Illig skin packaging packing lines are fast, low in energy consumption and totally enclosed making a completely safe environment for EBC staff.
The new machine has been supplied with the addition of a material pre-stretching device to enable the production of APET blisters for packaging new clutch plate kits and clutch tooling, which will then be blister card sealed on EBC’s existing HSP 35b-3 rotary sealing machine.
The existing second skin and blistering machine has run continuously since installation in 2013, keeping the EBC Pineham warehouse shelves stocked with over 100,000 sets of packaged parts ready for dispatch to the 87 EBC distributors worldwide on a rapid-fire dispatch basis.
In addition to its plant based in Pineham, EBC Brakes has a new facility in Las Vegas, which will also be taking delivery of a second SB 74e-10 skin and blistering machine, matching the packaging capabilities of the UK facility.
EBC says it is now measuring dispatch times in hours rather than days and has a ship capacity of over 800 UPS parcels and up to 60 pallets per day of its motorcycle brakes.
