Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is an extremely adaptable thermoplastic elastometer widely used due to its durability and flexibility.
A polyurethane plastic which bridges plastics and rubber, TPU is known for its many qualities such as abrasion resistance, low temperature performance, oil and grease resistance, high elongation at break, load bearing capacity, transparency, and elasticity.
Both elastic and melt-processable TPU can be processed on extrusion as well as on blow molding, injection molding, and compression molding equipment.
As a result of these many properties TPU has many uses including:
- Hydraulic hoses
- Inflatable rafts
- Wire and cable coatings
- Medical tubing
- FFD 3D printing
- Drive belts
- Footwear
- Mobile phone covers
