Omega Plastics says increased demand for a range of healthcare and medical devices has resulted in an investment of more than £200,000 in new technology at its plant on Teesside.
The company manufactures specialised equipment used throughout the healthcare industry, from plastic products used within GP’s surgeries and the operating theatre to those used in medical testing and trials.
Manufactured by Fanuc, Omega says the new machinery and systems technology will increase productivity and improve levels of energy efficiency in Omega Plastics’ plant in Hartlepool.
“The diversity and growth in the medical devices industry make this a fundamentally important market for our business. This is just the latest in a line of investments we have made in our people and the technologies they work with to ensure we consistently deliver the highest quality products and services to our customers,” explained Gary Powner, Managing Director of Omega Plastics.
“The sector is understandably heavily regulated, especially in the supply of products and materials that are intended to come into direct contact with humans. Fanuc’s purpose-built machines enable us to create exactly the right conditions for manufacturing these highly sensitive products.”
Omega Plastics is part of the Omega Plastics Group, which has three sites across the North East. The Hartlepool site currently employs 30 people and the group employs more than 50 others at Blyth in Northumberland and Washington in Tyne and Wear, where further investments are in the pipeline.
